Time Management for Faculty: Tools to Help

sasha shillcuttDr. Sasha Shillcutt presented on, “Time Management for Faculty: Tools to Help,” on May 1st. As early-career research faculty are commonly pulled in many directions, a new researcher’s “to-do” list is long and daunting. Tasks range from finding new collaborators, establishing a research line, writing multiple manuscripts, obtaining grant funding, designing and teaching courses, hiring and managing new employees, to performing multiple departmental and university-wide administrative duties. In addition, many clinical-translational research faculty also have numerous clinical responsibilities. There is a timeline by which all of these tasks must pay off and it is easy for researchers to feel internal or external pressure to devote 100% of their time and effort to work. Without finding appropriate time management skills, as well as striking a balance between work and personal life, the likelihood of burnout is high.

Please post questions or comments below any issues you have had with time management, prioritizing tasks, balancing work and home life, or related topics. We will reach out to you with a response from the speaker. Please see below to watch the presentation video or view Dr. Shillcutt’s slides.
