Great Plains IDeA-CTR Pilot Funding Opportunities

The Great Plains IDeA-CTR Network is excited to announce pilot and early-career research funding opportunities for 2022-2023.

These awards are available to full-time faculty at the following institutions: UNMC, UNO, UNK, UNL, Creighton University (CU), Children’s Hospital and Medical Center (CHMC), Boys Town National Research Hospital (BTNRH) and Omaha VA Medical Center (O-VAMC).

 

Pilot Project Funding Opportunities: Earliest funding start date July 1, 2023.

Team Research Pilot

This award provides funding to support existing teams/CTR projects that have preliminary data but need further development before being able to submit for external funding.

  • Up to $75,000 in direct costs for a one-year project will be awarded

Tech Transfer Pilot

The Tech Transfer projects are focused on translation of intellectual property into clinical and/or community applications. Funds would be used to support investigators obtaining additional data to support patent applications, SBIR/STTR applications, other sponsored research, and/or licensing agreements.

  • Up to $50,000 for a one-year project will be awarded

Heart and Vascular Pilot

 This funding is for projects that are related to heart and vascular research, including but not limited to cardiac pathology, hypertension, stroke, kidney disease, and vascular focused research.

 Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Pilot 

Data science is an interdisciplinary field that uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms, and systems to extract and data across a broad range of application domains.

Novel Methodology Development Pilot

The methodology pilot is an opportunity for Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design. Successful applicants will receive up to $30,000 in direct costs for a one-year project. The purpose of this funding program is to promote development and use of novel statistical methodological tools. The goal is to support investigators in obtaining extramural funding for developing novel statistical and research design methodology.

Community-Engaged Research Pilot

The intent of this award is the generation of preliminary data for feasibility and acceptability trials for projects that have an existing or forming community-academic partnership and focused on how to improve community health.

Community-Engaged Capacity Development Pilot

The purpose of this award is to provide seed funding for investigators working to (1) develop or engage community partnerships for project design or planning purposes or (2) engage Practice Based Research Networks to identify local priorities and begin project planning.

Superstar Award

This funding is intended for projects that develop innovative tools and methods for medical research.
