ENRICH Forum: Re-Purposing Research Samples During a Pandemic

July 21, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm UTC-6

The National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) ENRICH Forum is designed to stimulate dialogue on ethical and regulatory issues in cancer research and promote awareness of developing policies and best practices. On Tuesday, July 21st at noon (CST), speakers will discuss their examination of the circumstances surrounding the recently alleged research use of biological specimens collected in the Seattle Flu Study in order to assess community spread of COVID-19. More broadly, they will explore ethical parameters for determining appropriate investigational and surveillance activities with archived biological samples during a pandemic, at the interface of public health monitoring and human subject research. Speakers for this webinar include Sara Chandros Hull, PhD, Associate Investigator in the Office of the Clinical Director at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and Director of the NIH IRB Internship Program, as well as Benjamin E. Berkman, JD, MPH, Deputy Director at the NHGRI Bioethics Core and Faculty in the NIH Department of Bioethics. Register for the event THIS LINK.
