Funding Opportunities

The Great Plains IDeA-CTR Network offers funding opportunities to nurture, develop and guide clinical and translational research investigators across our region.

Network members receive notifications of the funding announcements listed here. These awards are available to full-time faculty at the following institutions: UNMC, University of Nebraska Omaha, University of Nebraska at Kearney, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Creighton University, Children's Nebraska, Boys Town National Research Hospital and Omaha VA Medical Center.

Funding Announcements

Novel Methodology Development Pilot: 2024 Announcement Soon

The methodology pilot is an opportunity for Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design. The purpose of this funding program is to promote development and use of novel statistical methodological tools. The goal is to support investigators in obtaining extramural funding for developing novel statistical and research design methodology. Provides up to $30,000 in direct costs for a one-year project

Community-Engaged Capacity Development Pilot

The purpose of this award is to provide seed funding for investigators working to: Develop or engage community partnerships for project design or planning purposes; engage practice-based research networks to identify local priorities; and to begin project planning. Provides up to $5,000 in direct costs for a one-year project. Deadline for fall 2023 has passed.

Community-Engaged Research Pilot

The intent of this award is to generate preliminary data for feasibility and acceptability trials for projects that have an existing or forming community-academic partnership and focused on how to improve community health. Provides up to $25,000 in direct costs for a one-year project. Fall 2023 deadline has passed.

Team Development Pilot

This award is intended to foster new team formation with cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional integration of basic, preclinical, clinical, clinical implementation, and public health research. Provides up to $50,000 in direct costs for a one-year project. Annual funding announcements are released in July.

Team Research Pilot

This award provides funding to support existing teams/CTR projects that have preliminary data but need further development before being able to submit for external funding. Provides up to $100,000 in direct costs for a one-year project. Annual funding announcements are released in July.

Tech Transfer Pilot

These projects are focused on translation of intellectual property into clinical or community applications. Funds may support investigators obtaining additional data to support patent applications, SBIR/STTR applications, other sponsored research and licensing agreements. Provides up to $50,000 for a one-year project. Annual funding announcements are released in July.

Superstar Pilot

This funding is intended for projects that develop innovative tools and methods for medical research. Provides up to $35,000 in direct costs for a one-year project. Annual funding announcements are released in July.
