Addressing Racial Disparities in Maternal Mortality and Morbidity LOI Deadline

This initiative from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) will support multidisciplinary research examining mechanisms underlying racial and ethnic disparities in maternal mortality and morbidity, testing the efficacy and/or effectiveness of multi-level interventions, and/or research strategies to optimally and sustainably deliver proven-effective prevention and treatment interventions to reduce these disparities. Research projects can focus on any point across the continuum of care, from preconception care to postpartum care up to 1 year after labor or delivery. Research projects are expected to provide a theoretical framework that addresses the intersection of domains of influence (biological, behavioral, physical, sociocultural, psychosocial, and health care system) and levels of influence (individual, interpersonal, community, and societal).
