NIH Pathways to Prevention Workshop
October 12, 2021 - October 14, 2021
Register is open for a virtual NIH research and implementation event on October 12th – 14th, 2021. Approximately one-fifth of Americans live in rural areas. These areas experience higher mortality rates, a higher prevalence of diseases and lower life expectancy than in urban areas. Telehealth-guided communication between care providers has the potential to increase access to services and improve health outcomes in underserved rural populations, but more research is needed. In October, the NIH will host the “Pathways to Prevention Workshop: Improving Rural Health Through Telehealth-Guided Provider-to-Provider Communication.” Sponsored in part by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), the virtual event aims to identify research gaps, explore barriers and facilitate successful, sustainable implementation of provider-to-provider telehealth in rural settings.
